PV INTERCONNECT RIBBON

Reflecting Reliability

The cells are electrically connected using tinned copper ribbon known as PV Interconnect Ribbon, Tabbing Strip, Tabbing Ribbon, Stringing Ribbon. Tabbing ribbons are commonly applied as parallel strips that weave from the top of one cell to the bottom of the next to connect the positive and negative sides of the cells in series. The ribbon is soldered onto the paste that was applied to the TCO. The tabbing application creates a cluster of solar cells. The tabbing ribbon collects electric current within its cluster of solar cells and delivers it to the bus ribbon.

Resistivity

Copper is one of the most useful metals known to man, and it was one of the first to be utilized. It has the second best electrical c onductivity of the metals, second only to silver compared to which it has a conductivity of 97%

  1. UNS C11000 ETP 99.90% (Electrolytic tough pitch copper) is available in regular practice and is the standard supplied base material in our Interconnect ribbon and Busbar.
  2. UNS C10200 OFHC 99.95% (Oxygen Free High Thermal Conductivity copper) is available on special request.

COATING COMPOSITION OR SOLDER TYPE

Solder is a fusible metal alloy used to join together metal

The solders are available on customer request.

All solder coating come with a spectrometer test certificate ensuring the correct proportions and uniform coating quality.

AUTOMATED LASER CONTROLLED TOLERANCE LEVELED WINDING

The Spools and Reels are wound using state of the art automated systems giving a level and uniform winding to the finished ribbon for easy and hassle free unwinding.

TENSILE STRENGTH / YIELD STRENGTH

Computerized System are used to measure the mechanical properties of the Interconnect ribbon and Photovoltaic Busbar material supplied has properties as follows

Tensile Strenght  < 250 N/mm2
Yield Strenght < 140 N N/mm2
